When this happens, it is time to replace it! That’s right. There is no need to buy a new phone just because it doesn’t hold a charge as well. We don’t buy a new car when the battery dies, and luckily we don’t have to for our electronics either.
Batteries on almost every rechargeable electronic device can be replaced.
Phone Batteries
AWT services batteries for nearly every major brand of smartphone. Repairs for common devices such as the iPhone can be completed in 30 minutes on average. Some devices may require the specific battery to be special ordered.
There are almost no phones AWT will not service the battery for. The exceptions are in the cases of either unavailable parts or if the device is irreparable by design.
Laptop Batteries
Laptop owners are incredibly diverse, and nearly every laptop model has a very unique battery. There are thousands!
For this reason, AWT does not keep laptop batteries on hand. Instead, they must be special ordered and can take at least a day to deliver. Call ahead to get your battery ordered so service is prompt when the laptop is brought in.

Tablet Batteries
Any tablet, such as the iPad or Galaxy Tab, has a battery just like any other rechargeable electronics battery. The battery will degrade and need to be replaced.
The average tablet owner experiences battery failure sooner than with a phone or laptop. This is due to an unhealthy habit of leaving the tablet plugged in charging beyond what is necessary (referred to as overcharging). Overcharging can create a trickle-charge effect on even the smartest of electronics that will accelerate battery degradation.
Tablets are among the most difficult devices to service batteries on, yet AWT is committed to providing advanced training for technicians that can reliably and affordably service all of the most common models.
How do batteries go bad?
As batteries gets older, the chemical lithium compound inside of them experiences degradation.
Battery degradation results in two primary issues: 1. The battery will drain much quicker on a full charge, and 2. The battery fails to deliver the maximum amount of power to the device when it is needed.
How long do batteries last?
Most phone, tablet, and computer batteries are rated for between 300 – 500 charge cycles. Smart batteries, like those in modern Apple and Samsung devices, are designed to continue performing at 80% capacity once they have completed 500 charge cycles.
A charge cycle is completed when the battery is charged an accumulative 100%. This can be from 0% charge all the way to 100%, or it can be from 30% to 80% twice.
The average phone owner will charge their device once per day. This results in 1 to 1.5 years before a battery experiences major degradation. A battery will typically fail within 2 – 4 years.
Lifespan is greatly effected by device use and charging habits.
